Our History

Forest Sofa is a proudly family-run business with over 50 years of experience in designing and manufacturing high-quality upholstered furniture. Built on strong traditional values and a passion for British craftsmanship, the company has grown steadily over the decades while staying true to its roots of quality, reliability and attention to detail.

Our journey began in Manchester, where our original factory quickly became the heart of our operations. As demand for our furniture increased, so did our ambition. This led to the expansion of our manufacturing capabilities with a second factory in Blackburn. Together, these two sites allow us to produce larger volumes without ever compromising on the standards that define our work. With a team of highly skilled upholsterers and craftsmen, many of whom have spent years perfecting their trade, we continue to combine time-honoured techniques with efficient modern production.

Every item featured across our collections is individually handmade in our Greater Manchester or Blackburn factories. We oversee the entire production process from start to finish, ensuring complete quality control at every stage. From constructing solid hardwood frames and carefully selecting wood finishes for feet, through to precision upholstery and the final hand-finished details, each piece is crafted with care. This is especially evident in our Chesterfield sofas, where traditional hand-studding and deep buttoning techniques are applied by experienced hands.

All of our furniture is made to order, with a typical production time of 4–6 weeks. This approach allows us to maintain flexibility and ensure each piece meets the exact requirements of our customers. We work closely with independent retailers and interior designers, supplying both large and small businesses across the UK and internationally. These long-standing partnerships are built on trust, consistency and the shared goal of delivering exceptional furniture.
